Getting started
How do I get started?
Pick a package on the pricing page. Online checkout is not open yet, so nothing is charged today. When it is open, you pay there, and right after you get a link to our intake form. Fill it in, and we take it from there.
Do I need a sales call first?
No, you never need a call to buy. The pricing page lists what you need to decide. Still unsure? Email us, and you’ll get a straight answer.
Which package should I pick?
Starter ($250) if you need a clean, professional site that tells people who you are and how to reach you: up to 8 pages, a short contact form, and up to 5 items for sale. Business ($500) if you want customers to book on your site, a shop of up to 25 items, or your own newsletter signup. Enterprise ($1,000) if you want Signature design, our highest design level, every page your business needs, 3 revisions and a build that starts first. Not sure? Email us and we’ll tell you honestly, even if the answer is the smaller package.
What do you need from me?
Your answers to our intake form, your logo and photos if you have them, and access to your domain. We never ask for passwords by email.
Do I have to write the text for my site?
No. By default, we write your page text from your intake answers. If you’d rather write it yourself, or you already have text, tell us on the intake form and we’ll shape it to fit the design.
I already have a website. Can you redo it?
Yes. A redesign is priced as a new website: you pay the price of the package you choose. We build you a new site, and your intake form tells us what to keep from the old one.
What’s included
What counts as a page?
A page is one web address with its own content, like your home page or your services page. Starter includes up to 8 pages, the Business package up to 25, and Enterprise every page your business needs. Legal pages, the not-found and thank-you pages, and the page of each item in your shop don’t count. Each blog or guide post counts as a page, except the weekly posts that come with Priority Maintenance. Need more pages than your package includes? You can move up to the next package and pay the difference in price.
Can I sell on my website?
Yes, on every package, with a checkout run by Stripe in your own account, or by Square in your own account if you already sell with Square. If you already run a Shopify store, we connect it to your site instead, whatever its size: on Starter, your site’s own pages show up to 5 of its products, styled to match your site, and on the Business package up to 25, with links to your store for the rest. Restyling your Shopify store’s own pages is part of Enterprise. Starter: up to 5 items, with options like size, and an option can have its own price. The items are physical goods, or gift vouchers and gift cards. The Business package: up to 25 items, with options like size. Enterprise: up to 50 items, or we connect and style your Shopify or Square store, whatever its size. The checkout runs in your own account, so payments go to you and we never see card details. On every package, an item counts once, with all its sizes, colors and other options. Want to sell more items than your package includes? You can move up to the next package and pay the difference in price. With a connected Shopify store, every product stays for sale in your store: the limit is only on how many your site’s own pages show. Beyond Enterprise’s 50 items, we connect your own Shopify or Square store.
What can’t I sell on a Starter site?
Deposits, digital downloads, subscriptions, tickets, made-to-order items a customer configures, and anything age-restricted. A Starter shop sells physical goods, with options like size or color that may have different prices, and gift vouchers and gift cards.
What can’t I sell on a Business or Enterprise site?
Subscriptions, tickets, digital downloads, deposits, and anything age-restricted. A Business or Enterprise shop sells physical goods, with options like size or color, and gift vouchers and gift cards. The one exception: on Enterprise, once we connect your own Shopify or Square store, your store can sell them.
Can I sell gift cards?
Yes, in one of two ways. With Stripe, you sell gift vouchers: each is a code for a fixed amount that you create in your own Stripe account, and it can be used once, with no remaining balance. If you already sell with Square, your site can sell Square gift cards instead, which keep a balance.
Do you handle sales tax on what I sell?
You choose at intake: Stripe Tax, which works out the tax for each order (Stripe charges its own fee for each order, and you must be registered where you collect tax), a fixed rate you give us, or no tax. That choice is yours, and which taxes apply to your sales, and collecting and paying them, are your responsibility. We never decide your tax, and this is not tax advice: ask your accountant.
Can customers book with me on my site?
On the Business and Enterprise packages, yes: online booking right on your site, with step-by-step booking forms. On Starter, your site links out to your booking page.
What are the dashboards in the Business package?
Google Analytics dashboards we set up for you, in your own Google Analytics account, so you can see how many bookings and checkouts happen on your site.
Will my site have a privacy policy?
Yes. Every site we build, on every package, gets a privacy policy page made from a template. It is a template, not legal advice. Whether it fits your business and the laws that apply to you is a question for your attorney: have it reviewed and changed as they advise. We remind you at handoff.
Timeline and process
How long does it take?
Your site is delivered for your review in 3 to 10 days, backed by our delivery guarantee: if we miss it, your site is free. Those are calendar days. The 3 to 10 days include weekends and holidays, so you can get back to business sooner. The clock starts once your intake form is in and we have the information it asks for.
What if you miss the 10 days?
Then your site is free. If we haven’t delivered your complete, working site on its private preview link within 240 hours (10 full days) of receiving your intake form and the information it asks for, we refund 100% of your package price, and we still finish your site and hand it over. The details are in our Terms of Service.
When does the 10-day clock start?
The moment your intake form is in and we have the information it asks for, like your logo, photos and answers. If something is missing, we tell you what it is, and the clock starts once it arrives. Revisions, domain access and launch day come after delivery, so they are not part of the deadline.
What does “delivered” mean?
We send you your complete, working site on its private preview link, so you can review it. Launch day comes after your review, and it is not part of the 10 days. The details are in our Terms of Service.
What does “starts first” mean for Enterprise?
Enterprise builds start before other builds waiting in our queue, so yours gets going sooner. Every package gets the same delivery guarantee.
Will I see the site before it goes live?
Yes. You get a private preview link, so you can look at your site on your phone and your computer before launch. You decide when your site launches: we launch it only once you approve in writing (an email is enough), on a day we agree with you.
What do I get when my site launches?
Your live site on your domain, your Ownership Certificate, a plain-English owner’s guide to everything you own, and a short recorded video walking you through it. Enterprise also includes a live walkthrough call.
Revisions
What if I want changes?
Every package includes revisions: 1 with Starter, 1 with the Business package and 3 with Enterprise. Extra revisions are $50 each.
What counts as a revision?
One revision is one list of changes, sent together: you send us one list, and we make the changes. A list can include redesigning parts of your site or adding new pages, up to your package’s page limit. Fixing our own mistakes never uses up a revision. If we were still waiting on something from you and finished that part with our best choice so your site was delivered on time, your answer goes in as one of your included revisions. A feature from a bigger package, like online booking on Starter, is an upgrade: you pay the difference in price.
Is there a deadline to use my revisions?
Yes. Included revisions must be used within 30 days after launch. Extra revisions are paid before we start them.
Ownership and hosting
Who owns the website?
You do. Once your package is paid in full and your site is launched or handed over to you, the site, the words and the code we wrote for you are yours. Parts that belong to others, like fonts, stock photos and open-source software, stay under their own licenses. You get it in writing, too: a one-page Ownership Certificate at handoff. If you ever want to move it, we hand everything over at no charge.
Where is my site hosted?
We host every site we build. Hosting is free for 30 days after launch; after that it’s part of Maintenance ($99 a month), or we move your site to your own hosting for free. With the Business and Enterprise packages, those 30 days are your free first month of standard Maintenance. We remind you before day 30. If you haven’t chosen by then, we email you your complete site files and keep your site live for 30 more days. We always email you before we take it off our hosting.
What if I want to leave later?
You can. You already own your site, and there’s no handoff fee. We move it to your own hosting account or give you a complete copy of its files and code.
Do I need to buy a domain?
If you already have one, we connect it. If you don’t, you register one in your own name with a domain registrar and pay them directly, and we connect it to your site. Either way, the domain is yours.
Will you touch my email?
No. Connecting your website to your domain usually needs no change to your email, and we don’t change your email settings. If a step could affect your email, we tell you first.
Payments and refunds
How much does a website cost?
One price for the design and build, and you see it before you buy: Starter $250, Business $500 or Enterprise $1,000. The costs outside it are your domain name, which you pay your registrar for, and hosting after the first 30 days. Monthly plans are optional.
Why is it so much less than an agency quote? Is it a template?
No. We don’t sell templates: every site is designed for your business from your answers in one guided form. It costs less because of how we work: set packages instead of custom quotes, no sales calls you pay for, and modern tools that speed up the build. Before delivery, every site is checked against the Evenhand Standard and looked over by a real person at Evenhand.
How do I pay?
Online checkout is not open yet. When it is, you pay through Stripe, a secure payment processor: the full package price, up front. We never see your full card number.
Do you take deposits or payment plans?
Not at the moment. Packages are paid in full at checkout.
What if I change my mind?
Before work starts you get a full refund. After design kickoff, 50%. After the first draft, 25%. Once your site launches, no refund. The Refund and Cancellation Policy has the details.
Is there a contract?
Our Terms of Service are the agreement. You accept them when you check out.
Accessibility
What is the Evenhand Standard?
It’s our own checklist for every site we build: how the site works on phones, page speed, search basics and accessibility. It is not a certification by anyone else. Our Terms of Service say what it covers and what we aim for.
Does that make my business legally compliant?
No one can promise that, and we don’t. We can’t tell you whether a particular law applies to your business, or promise that no one will ever complain. That’s a question for your attorney. What we can say: every site we build is built with accessibility in mind, to the Evenhand Standard, and our Terms explain what we aim for.
What extra accessibility work comes with Enterprise?
A written accessibility statement for your site, and a report of the accessibility checks we ran on it.
Does the site stay accessible after launch?
We build it with accessibility in mind for launch. New content added later, such as photos without descriptions or PDFs, can introduce problems, and your owner’s guide explains how to add them with accessibility in mind. With Maintenance, a monthly automated check helps catch common problems early, and we tell you what it finds.
Search
What are SEO and GEO?
SEO (search engine optimization) helps search engines like Google and Bing understand your site. GEO (generative engine optimization) does the same for AI answer tools, like ChatGPT and Google’s AI Overviews. Every site we build includes the basics for both: clear page titles and descriptions, structured data that describes your business, and pages built with those tools in mind.
Will I rank first on Google?
Nobody can honestly promise that, and we won’t. We build your site with search engines and AI tools in mind, to help them read and understand it. Where you rank also depends on your competition, your reviews and time.
What is Google Business Profile optimization?
It is part of Enterprise, and optional. At launch, once you add us as a manager of your Google Business Profile (the listing that shows your business on Google Maps and in local search), we improve it so it matches your new site. Because it depends on that access, it is not part of the 3 to 10 day delivery. You keep ownership of the profile.
What is the SEO and AI-search audit?
A one-time report on one website, for $250. It shows the problems we find, ranked by how much we expect each to matter, a fix for each, what your competitors do, and a suggested timeline. We email it within 5 business days of your purchase. The pricing page lists everything it includes.
Does the audit change anything on my website?
No. The audit is a report: we look at your website from the outside and change nothing on it. We never need your logins.
Can you make the changes for me?
Yes. You can pick one of three ways:
- A new website We build you a new site with the fixes from your report that fit the package you choose. It’s priced as one of our packages, and if you buy within 30 days after we deliver your audit, you save 20%.
- Your current website Where your platform lets you add us as a user, we send you one fixed price for the fixes we can make, before any work starts. Never hourly, and we never ask for your password.
- Do it yourself Your report includes copy-paste fixes and step-by-step guides your own team can follow.

Monthly plans
What does Maintenance ($99 a month) include?
Hosting; security and software updates; uptime monitoring; a monthly automated accessibility and speed check, with a note to you on what it finds; up to 2 small edits a month (like swapping text or a photo); and edit requests answered within 3 business days. New pages and redesigns are quoted separately.
What does Priority Maintenance ($129 a month) add?
Everything in Maintenance, plus up to 5 small edits a month instead of 2, edit requests answered within 1 business day instead of 3, your requests answered before standard Maintenance requests, and a new blog or guide post every week. We write each post from your business’s real facts and send it to you first: it goes live after 3 business days unless you tell us not to. If you do, we hold it, then revise it with you or drop it. No one can promise how a post ranks or what AI tools will say about it, and we do not. The free first month in the Business and Enterprise packages is standard Maintenance. You can switch at any time: a switch up to Priority Maintenance starts right away (you pay the difference for the rest of the month), and a switch down starts with your next monthly payment.
What is in the Monthly analytics report ($49 a month)?
A plain-English report on how your website did last month: visitors, top pages, where visitors came from, how you showed up in Google and Bing search, and whether the goals you picked (calls, form sends, bookings or sales) happened, plus a short list of suggested website changes. It covers website analytics only, and it isn’t business, marketing or ad advice.
Can I get a monthly plan for a site you didn’t build?
The Monthly analytics report works for any website. Maintenance and Priority Maintenance are for sites we built. If we didn’t build yours, email us for a quote.
How do I cancel a monthly plan?
Any time, online or by email. There’s no cancellation fee, and the plan stops at the end of the month you’ve already paid for.
Who we work with
What kinds of businesses do you work with?
Small businesses: local services, trades, shops, studios, practices and brands. We work remotely, so we don’t need to be nearby.
Is there any business you won’t build for?
Yes. We do not build websites for adult businesses (sex shops, pornography, and other adult entertainment), gun and firearm stores, cannabis businesses, or any business or activity that is illegal or illicit. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone, and we may decline any project at our own discretion: our Terms of Service say what we will not build. If we decline a project you have paid for, the refund follows our Refund and Cancellation Policy: in full when the reason is not your fault.
How we work
Do you use AI?
Yes. We use modern AI-assisted tools to design and build faster, which is part of how we keep prices flat. Before delivery, every site is checked against the Evenhand Standard and looked over by a real person at Evenhand.
Can I see your past work?
Not yet. Evenhand is new, and we won’t pass off made-up work as a client’s. The three websites on our home page are our own designs for invented businesses. Client sites will appear on this site once they launch and the clients agree.
How do I reach a person?
Email hello@evenhandsites.com. You’ll hear back from a real person, usually within 1 business day.
